Post by: tom on June 26, 2006, 12:46:56 AM
Hello

I have been to websites and i have asked the breeders of the new world carniolans what are they bred with and are they good honey producers but when asked they onlt tell me the color of the queen and workers. I have one on order to requeen my slow working hive which is buckfast and italian cross. I even wrote the lady sue coby but she never wrote me back i have asked all who have them and it seems they want to keep them a secret does anyone know about these bees and do anyone have any.

They are very frugal (small winter cluster, adjusting the population rapidly to match the current conditions) as compared with Italians which are "brood rearing fools".  They are well bred typical Carniolans.  They tend toward black workers but will have some brown mixed in.

In one sentence, they are gentle, productive frugal and well adapted to colder climates.
