Title: Alaska Beekeepers
Post by: ctsoth on July 10, 2006, 01:56:14 AM
Are any of you jolly folks from alaska, or do you know any alaskan beekeepers?  I am in the process of attempting to get myself into alaska for a week or so and I am interested in visiting an apiary and stuff...

Peace

Chris

Also, does anyone have any tips on how/where to get a rental car for cheap?  I am looking at living out of the rental car for the week rather than pay for lodging.

I have several relatives who live in Alaska.  It all Depends on what area you're going to.  In the lower panhandle (Sitka, Juneau) it is made of fjords much like Norway and You can drive from one end of the Fjord to the other but then you much either go through Canada, take the next ferry, or fly to your next location.
You can drive from Drive from Haines to Sitka because they're on opposite ends of the same fjord but you can't drive from either to Juneau as they are on different ones.
Up north it is possible to Drive from Fairbanks to Anchorage as both are on the mainland.
Then, too, there is the question of whether you're flying up or taking the Alaskan Ferry from Bellingham, WA.

I can fly up to alaska for 30 bucks because my dad works for sun country airlines.  The only real expense I will have is a rental car, which is mecha expensive.  Anyone know of a good way to get a rental car without contracting out my first born?

i usually use priceline, or sometimes hotwire.  i don't use them to book flights, but have gotten really good deals on cars and hotel rooms.  especially on short notice.
