Title: Here's something strange
Post by: tom on August 09, 2006, 07:00:48 PM
Hoiwdy

Maybe some of you can shed some light on what i heard i was sitting by my hives when i heard a strange sound coming from it it was like a drumming noise kind of low but it was coming from in the hive i have never heard this before is it a good thing or bad. They are working good and i cracked the top so they could get the good wind that is blowing here and this is when i heard the sound.

Hello

I still have drones in this hive but i know for sure that i still have the same queen from april. But if it is a good thing then i am happy and i might as well go inside again and see if she has been replaced.

>>the new queen had even started laying!!

The source of the drumming sound--it was the bees clapping with satisfaction at the success of their new queen.
Title: Do you think my queen has been replaced

Hello

I have read all replies and you both say that my queen was replaced if so she was carniolan but she was bred with cordovan italian drones but my drones look more like carniolans then italians. Is this why they kept the drones around and did not get rid of them like my other hive. could they have raised a new queen under my nose i will find out tomarrow and will let you know what i have found.
