Title: observation hive question???

im thinking about making an observation hive next year. but my parents wont let me put a hole through the wallto allow the bees to go outside. ive considered a hollow log observation hive but im not sure its legal in iowa. any ideas on how to keep an observation hive outside?

build a outside observation hive that attaches to the window

Open a window a bit. Place a plywood panel cut to fit in the opening. Put bee hole in the plywood.
