I went to check on my hives to see if they needed more food in the feeders and to my surprise about 8 o'clock they were out working like crazy except for hive #2 they are still in the mood of not starting early as my other two. Hive one is my biggest hive and plenty of bees and hive three is taking in syrup like water but my other two is not touching it. They are bringing in plenty of pollen and i guess nector and storing it very well hive #3 seems to be on the road to winter so is all of them so i think they are ready.

I am feeding 4 hives from a month ago and observed something similar. Every week I have to refill the empty feeders but the hive number 3 feeder that did not drink and the syrup fermented.
This hive 3 had a frame of brood, the other hives have 3 or 4 frames.
And this sunday I could see wax moth, so I have merged that hive with other one.
Hello
My second hive is working like crazy and they are filling the brood area up with honey and pollen. All of my hives have plenty of brood and they are all headed up by young queens and they all seem to have found the jack pot on something to work they are at it as soon as they can get out but my second hive they have always been late starters but when they get going it is all out. My third hive have mites but i got treatment on the way and they are not only working well like my big hive but they are sucking down syrup like mad. They are saying we are going to get our first frost this weekend so that might cause a problem but so far they are working and fanning out front and i have more gaurd bees on duty.

My grandmother used to say that a lazy mother raises lazy children. Sounds like Hive 2 might need a new mom.

Hive #2 has a new young queen which i had gotten back in september and she is laying well and they are working but late not as early as my other two hives.

Can be the syrup a health test?
I think that a hive that drink slowly has problems.
