I'd like to build an observation hive this year. Do you have several pictures of different types that I could see? I saw one on Bush's web site - thanks! But I still would liek to have more ideas. Any suggestions? Maybe I'd build a top bar with one side that had glass or plastic. What do you think?
Please post pictures if you have any.
Thanks!
This is a great idea - also - what type of plans are out there? My wife is a teacher and has me in every year for a talk, but I haven't pulled the trigger on a store made hive yet - $$$.

Hope that helps

Now that's an observation hive - I bet the darn thing plays mp3's and orders take out too! Imagine a whole full time hive like that, supers and all, with a removable cover - that's awesome - anyone else on the cutting edge?

I think using 1 3/4" thick by 1 1/2" or wider ends with the notches in them for the frames and then putting the glass (or plexiglass) on with those little "feet" that are made to put mirrors on the wall, is about as simple a plan as you can build.
The one on beesource in the plans section is ok, but I don't like the glass in a groove because once it's propolized in it's impossible to get out.
Here is a different one I built last year:

I think John means the KTBH.
