might I suggest you redo the poll in Percentage and numbers, not numbers. Many beekeepers keep much larger numbers than where 5 would even be a considerable number. For example I only loss one hive, but that is 100% of my beeyard. Knowing just one bit of info does not complete the picture. If someone had a 1000 hives with 29% loss - your "% or more" wouldn't tell us much. Here is a bit more informative poll, I think. The last line added to get feedback from the beekeeper to help us understand how good or bad the season was compared to seasons past.

Maybe set up a poll like this, so it can stay around well into Spring.

Please list PERCENTAGE of hives loss:
0% loss
1% to 5% loss
5% - 10%
10% - 20%
20% to 40% loss
40% to 60%
60% or Greater

(and a second field in same topic)

Please list the actual number of Colony loss totals in section:

0 to 5 loss
5 to 10 loss
10 to 20 loss
20 to 40 loss
40 to 60 loss
80 to 100 loss
Greater than 100 loss

(Lastly add this line)

Personnaly, concerning bee survival, do you rate this season:

Exceptionally Good.
Less than average loss..
Average Loss.
Greater than Average loss
Nearly catastrophic loss
Total loss

Our polling system allows for multiple answers, you can set them up in your poll setup. Hope this helped. Don't forget it is early in much of the country, we haven't seen temps into the 50s yet here and it could be many weeks before bees get flying - try to set this up for the long hall.

I lost one hive this winter because i caught them in the late fall and they didn't have enough to eat over winter. My bad. It will not happen again.
