I was looking for information and unable to find it. Maybe someone here has read. In most of the reports of CCD there is a mention of how it seems that other bees, beetles, and moths will not move into the dead hive and go after the honey and wax. Has this been reported for ant as well? I have only found mention of the above.
Cheers,
Patrick
I wonder if that's even true. It's only now the first day of spring, most insects are just coming out of their hibernation stage. The few ant species that are active are probably more interested in cleaning out their old nests.
I don't think that it affect Bee's like it does ants. We have yet to find out what even causes it, but their are so many things that can affect ants, and some are so specialized if you loose an ant colony its not that big of a deal. Ants in general are super hygienic.
