I'm driving to Arizona Friday to get two five frame nuc"s from Dee.I want to add

You can use starter strips. You can use the natural cell foundation and cut it into starter strips.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

If you're regressing the first time it would IMO work better to use the standard foundation cut into strips, the next generation, later in the year, will be ok with small cell.

Brian, etc,

When building frames (for use in nucs, splits, opening brood nest) with starter strips is it necessary to use wire?

Dee's bees are regressed.

Zoot,

I don't use wire.  I find that too often the bees are reluctant to build comb across the bare wire leaving gaps in the comb.  Comb built during without wire the 1st flow should be strong enough to withstand an extractor by late August.

For others: I was unaware Dee's bees were regressed.

Dee Lusby. The queen of small cell, no medication, and all that and you didn't know her bees were regressed? Now you got me confused.  :?
