Not sure if you guys have seen it, but there used to be a TV series on the RFD channel (Rural Farming) on satellite called "Honeybees & Beekeeping". That show is what originally sparked my interest in beekeeping, but at the time I was living in an apartment and didn't have a place to put a hive.
Well, I've been watching and waiting for that series to come back (was on like a year or two ago) and haven't seen anything. On RFD TV's website, www.rfdtf.com, the program listing has even dissapeared.
Well I've sent an email to the Founder and President, Patrick Gottsch
[email protected], requesting that they bring it back. I would like to enlist the help of all my fellow beekeeping friends here on this message board to help out and send a note asking to bring back this cool show. Also ask if them if they could add more beekeeping related stuff. It would be nice every once in a while to do a search on my TIVO for bees and find something other than "The birds and the bees".

it's quite good. after i checked the tapes out from my library, i bought them for future reference. not all that he does will work for me, but it is helpful to be able to see what is done, not just read about it. he is a very good teacher.

That was on last year. Thats what got me really thinking about doing beekeeping. My dad had a friend when I was 4 or 5 and he had 99 hives but in his backyard he only had 5 of them. So one day my dad and I went over and he said carson come hear so I walkd out in the backyard with him and he said go on the back side of the hives and walk right by them where thay are comeing in and out at. So when I did the bees was all over me. There was so meany on me you cant see my face or hands and he said now shake when I did thay all took off. So thats how I got into the bees. But I found a guy hear by me that works for the state with beekeeping and Im going to help him with all his hives and cleen all the other parts he has he must have over 1000 hives and supers just put up. He breads his own queens the mites cant kill them. So what we are gonna do im gonna trade out with him I work he lets me have stuff and he is gonna get my bees ever thing. By sep ill have my frist honey crop. Ill only have 3 hives but whrer thay are ill be getting 187 pounds of honey YAY lol. But seen that dose suck about your run in with a swarm that guy need'd a bee corssing sine up lol ;).
I got a reply from RFD from the email I sent. They said they are trying to get the people who made the original series to make new ones. But the originals had some great material from what I remember. I'm hoping that if enough of us email them, they'll bring back the re-runs. :-)

So, Kathy, where might one buy this series? I can't seem to find it on Amazon or on the RFD site.

Here is a link to a site that sells the videos. We recorded it when it was on.

The dvd version is 30 dollars but very educational I think.
Thanks for that link buzzbee. I think I'm gunna order me a set. Kinda weird that the VHS copy is $60 but the DVD is $30. Usually DVD's are more expensive than tapes. Would be cheaper if RFD just played them again and I just TiVO it. :-)
Thanks Buzzbee, I'll give them a call in the am.
