Title: Cool weather question
Post by: baudercook on April 26, 2007, 05:29:43 PM
I just installed my first package of bees on Monday.  The instructions say to remove the (hopefully) empty queen cage, confirm that the queen is busying herself on a frame and then add the remaining 5 frames to the box by the second or third day.  So, it has been 3 full days and the weather is cold and drizzly.  Will the cold weather hurt the bees?  Should I wait a day or two until the sun comes out?
Thanks for your advice!

I don't think an extra day or two will hurt.  I would wait for better weather the bees and you will enjoy the inspecton better.

pdmattox is right.
An extra few days wouldn't hurt.

Sincerely,

Bauder, welcome to the wonderful world of beekeeping.

Make sure you feed those bees while you have them, keep them in a dark and cool place. All should be well.
