Title: 3rd day - bringing in pollen
Post by: MikeG on April 26, 2007, 08:35:12 PM
This is the end of the 3rd day for my first, new 3 lb package.  The weather is poor.  Windy and rainy.

I don't want to go in yet.  Need to give them more time to accept the queen.  Especially with the poor weather.

They sure seem happy, though.  They are very gentle.  Foremost, they are bringing in pollen.  I took about 40 pictures of bees coming in with back legs full of pollen. (from about 4 feet distance - they didn't mind at all)

Doesn't that seem like a good indicator that they are doing well, have accepted the queen, and are building comb?

They will bring back pollen whether they have accepted the queen or not.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

As long as you are off to the side, you can be 1 ft away. I sometimes pull a chair up close and learn in. Get some great pictures and it is nice to observe them up close.
