Cody:
Nice pics, you look very confident handling the frame - awesome. If it has been over a week, break through that candy to help get her out of there, most people will tell you to just pull the cork on the otherside, I think that is good too if they are relaxed and smoked well. They look very gentle and keep a real ZEN attitude and you'll do great!
Best of luck and GLAD to know you all this time, I think you're really gonna love these social creatures alot - I'm getting mine this coming week and I'll have plenty to share too :)
Thanks! I sat outside the hive for about an hour, just watching them come in and out. I think some one marked them their was one with a red dot on its head. But their are a bunch of bee's coming in with some red pollen. I like watching all the pollen come in, they have red yellow orange and white pollen. really cool. It has been 5 days since I got them. Ive noticed the Italians are REALLY active, and the Russians aren't as much.
So cool, Thanks for the forums!
nice, so what ya found out? queens laying nicely? building comb ok?..?
yeah red pollen is awesome, some bees get really red, they're just funny!
Cody,
Great job,
If the bees are getting really backed up at the opening of the reducer you may want to flip it to the larger one as long as its warm.Good air circulation will help to keep the moisture down and the bees can get more done if the entrance is open to relieve a traffic jam. Hope to check ours today, good luck with the ag project, you deserve to do well with all the setbacks you've had.
Awesome pictures! I love the last one...congrats on your kids!
It looks like things are going well. Wait till those frames are filled with brood and honey.
Sincerely,
Brendhan
Cody you have to give them all names. All my Italians are called Maria, it makes it easy.
The Russinas, hmmmmmmmm mebe Lilliana?
They look like they are drawing that foundation in fine style.
I to like watching them returning with pollen and working out what they got it off.
PS, dont roll the hives 5 times to get the honey out!
