Post by: heaflaw on April 30, 2007, 01:32:37 AM
How is the word "propolis" pronounced?

As in proper or as in probate?

Its not in Webster's.

I've heard it pronounced:

PROP oh liss
and
pro POL liss

I've heard both just as often.  Maybe "PROP oh liss" a little more often.

That's okay,
I pronounce it the second way Michael posted. When I saw the dictionary pronunciation, I was lie darn I have been wrong all this time. I still like the second one better.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

Thanks,

It's pronounced like proper.  But we will still get it wrong a lot.

i think that WE ALL pronounce it wrong. we have our own word "zadelavina" but people perfer to use propolis, anyway, what i wanted to say is...we should all ask a Greek how it's pronounced right.
