Title: I am in 2 deep...brood that is...what next?
Post by: DayValleyDahlias on May 13, 2007, 07:15:58 PM
Thanks to all of the advice here, I now have 2 deep brood boxes, just added the second one on yesterday.

How will I know when to add a honey super AND...should I go shallow or medium?  Is there a preference, or is it strictly a personal choice ( weight of super etc )...

I am using 8 frame BTW.

Thank you muchly

If you have a good necter flow I see nothing wrong with adding a super in the next week. As for the size you will have to decide how much you can handle. About ten to 15 lbs diff. in small and menium when full.
Medium can weigh as much as 40 lbs+ I think.

I may be a little high on weight. You said 8 frames. I have a 10 frame brain.

I would use all the same sized boxes from top to bottom.  I use all 8 frame mediums.
