ok, on my hives that i bought, I have migratory covers and inner covers.  If I remove the inner cover, will that create a "bee space" issue?

Brian D. Bray

An inner cover is not required with migratory tops.  They have no side soffet that hangs over the edges of the hive.  With a Telescopic top there is a soffet all the way around the top that telescopes down over the hive body.  A telescopic hive requires an inner top as the bees will glue the surfaces together and you have no way of getting a grip to pry it loose from the propolis.

With a migratory top the long sides are exposed and a hive tool can easily be slipped between the top and the hive body to pry the top off.
