What's bloomin' in Northern California

Thought i would share some pics i took this afternoon. The Queen Ann's Lace and the thistles are pretty much the only abundant blooms around here right now but the bee's seem happy.

What?  No star thistle?  There were oceans of it when I used to live there.  I guess they are all replaced with almonds by now.... .and rice..... field corn.....um......alfalfa,.... did I mention star thistle?

IN this part of cali   we need some rain in may to get a good starthistile surplus this year no rain no surplus  :(  RDY-B

There has been so little rain this year. The thistles are going crazy now as i mentioned (have some great pics i wanted to share of the thistle heads covered with bees, oh well) and the dandelions are just now starting to peter out. The croplands all over the county are going bonkers now especially the squash fields so there are blooms out there to be had.
