I "caught" my first swarm today.
i've been dying out of wish to get one the whole year, i think god felt sorry for me so..
now..this ain't my swarm, a local beek brought back (i think he overwinters here) his 120 hives (i'll take a picture of those two trucks) and a swarm of bees flew to me.

now i know it's late, i know chanches are slim, i know they could be heavily infested with mites, however i did checked landing boards of his hives and didn't see any mites.
anyway, i got a swaaaaarm!!!
and it was quickly over and done, less than 5 mins, they landed in some bush so no ladder included, 3 clips with scizzors and it was over.

congratulations!!

are you sure they weren't yellowjackets?

Congratulations also. How many hives do you have now Mici?

Guess it was beginners luck I caught one of my own last Sunday. They have been taking about a quart of sugar water a day. I gaged it to be about a 5lb bunch. Congratulations Mici.

I have two swarm traps up in the trees with no swarms yet.
A swarm in May is worth a bale of hay.
A swarm in June is worth a silver spoon.
A swarm in July isn't worth a fly.

thanks for all the good wishes!
if they're yellowjckets, they must be the kind ones, got stung only once, but it was my fault.

if everything goes alright they are the 7th hive (had some troubles with the last split)
