Interesting Error?

today i mixed up syrup for one hive.  i have been putting a couple of drops of lemmongrass oil in my syrup.  without looking, i grabbed the bottle and put two drops of....cedar oil....in the syrup.

the smell was not very strong and i have seen my bees in my cedar trees a lot.  i decided to put the syrup on.

today is dry and around 50 degrees.  all the hives are active, but when i checked back, many more bees were coming out of the cedar oil hive.  they did not seem to be distressed, but they were very active.  i pulled the syrup and will check back in a few to see if there is any difference.

Kathy, ooooh, that is interesting.  I wonder if it was annoying the bees or not?  It would seem weird that they would become suddenly more active, likely you will hear comments from our forum friends about if this is good or bad for the bees.  I honestly have no clue, and I would love to hear some answers too, have a wonderful day, great life.  Cindi

makes the syrup more attractive to them.  also seems to retard mold development in syrup.  smells nice.  DO NOT get it on yourself before going to the hive.  you'll have many friends :-)

thanks-- have you ever tried it in fondant or do you think it would burn of in the cooking prosses
