A guy called me yesterday asking if I could come get bees out of his camper trailer. I told him I really wasnt interested in catching these bees as I didnt think they'd a lived if I tore the hive down and put it into a box. I did tell him that if it was spring or summer I would jump on the offer to catch these bees.I dont like to let people down like this(especially older people) as I know they dont know what to do or who to call. The cost of gas to get there is another reason.
Have any of you caught bees in the winter, and if you did, what did you do to be successful?

Where are these bees? I ask because I know of a travel trailer around Jayton that has bees in it.

I got my first bees on a warm day in February 2005 from a barn wall in New Home, TX. They were very calm bees. You get any brood comb and tie it into frames. Hopefully get the queen into the box also. Get all the honey you can and on warm days feed it back to them. If you can do it on a warm day and it isn't going to get cold for a few days, they might be able to settle down and dig in for any remaining cold days.
BUT... if you kill the queen it is all over I would think.

Hi Jerrymac!
These bees are just across the river(Red River) in a little town called Randlett, Ok. Ohhh, about 25 miles away from where I live. I didnt mention that these bees arent just hanging there easy to get....They're in a wall..Its one of those old type silver trailers I think.
Thanks for the info.
