We had a fairly warm, mid-50's day, but windy and rainy.  Just after noon, however, there was a break, and the sun tried to peak out - repeatedly - so the girls decided to come out for a visit.  This is the hive in the backyard, we're thrilled to see so many out, they're still alive!  Yea!

We went over to my mother's to check those hives, but by the time we got there there were only one or two flying outside of either hive.  Didn't bother to take a picture.

Thanx, JP.  This spring there will be two more hives out there (the hive to the left of this one is the one that died within one week of installing the package last spring  :-x)  I don't think we'll put more at Mom's, but we may have to find another location somewhere around here, I don't want to put too many hives in the yard due to testy neighbors.

I did - she told me she doesn't like honey   Actually this past season she wasn't too bad about it, the first year she was unbearable.  If I don't mention them she'll probably forget them, she's not a very happy person, even honey can't sweeten up her life!

Those types are best left alone, but...If you're up for a good challenge you could turn her with a lot of effort, may be worth it maybe not.

I live in New Jersey and there was a break in the weather today! So I decided to smoke a cigar outside and enjoy the sun while it last.  I think the temp was around 62-63.  So I light up....Mmmmmmmmmm taste great, have not smoked cigars in three month.  and out of no where... a bee buzzed me and landed on my arm. What are the chances... 1 in 10000000000000! Here I am signing up in a class and ordering the hive parts and reading books about bee keeping and there was my little friend. I think she was attracted to the sweet smell of the cigar...! she was beautiful I observed her as she walked about!  my sister saw me smiling and observing the little bee...... and just like that she flew.......!  I was very happy!
