Instead of going in from the outside had to do this one from the inside. Did one other like this, trust me, they're not fun. I try and leave the customer with little to do once I'm finished, but if it was up to me, the tree would have been snipped. Not like the pretty ones, but anyway, here's the pics. Didn't see the queen, but if I'm lucky she's in the hive box. Got lots of brood and lots of bees!

JP, so nice that you are posting these pictures of your work for us, I still take my hat off to you dude, what jobs, and man, it must be really hot working in your warm weather down there, eh?  Have a wonderful and beautiful, awesome day.  Cindi
There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service

Cindi, it's not hot yet, but that's coming for sure, not looking forward to the really hot weather, makes it tough to work in, you are right there. When its really hot I bring lots of fluids with me and a small ice chest with a little water added and some Florida water mixed in, with face rags added to the ice chest. If you're unfamiliar with Florida water, its a wonderful refresher that will revive you on those hottest of days. It is very soothing to the outdoor worker, a real life saver, for sure. http://www.lanman-and-kemp.com/florida.htm

Have a great day! JP

most often i find my greatest source of stress to be OPS  ( other peoples stupidity )

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

JP, great, but we live in Canada, I bet Florida water is not available here, it sounds very very nice though.  Have a wonderful day, and a beautiful life.  Cindi

Cindi, were you able to go to the link? I bet you could find that stuff. It would refresh you after you worked in your garden and fed the ducks!

JP You go on so many calls...seems as though there are tons of bees where you live.  I have only seen one swarm here on my land some years ago, I called the local beek who was REALLY happy to come get them.  But that's about it.  Then the one hive in an old building in Oregon that I have been watching since Nov 07...You must have tons of hives!

JP

We do have lots of bees here. I keep the hives and give some to others that want to keep bees. Because you don't always get the queen, I combine some of these queenless hives with the ones that are queen right. I have lost some hives no doubt, but I am getting better at keeping them, there lies the rub. Anyone can start a hive, its tending to them and keeping them strong seasons on end that is the true mark of a good beekeeper. Each season I strive to be in the "good beekeeper category", but what do I know, I am only human. If only I could be a bee for a day!  :-D Have a good one.
