Well I am about to sign off here for a couple of weeks.  Monday morning I will be in Texas working for a large commercial beek.  From my understanding he made up 5700 splits this year (yes I really did say 5700) and I am part of the team that will check each one to ensure the queens are mated and laying/accepted to include requeening if needed.

I will be in Texas for about 10 days and look forward to sharing my exhausting experience with you all.  I know many of you will be with me in thought.  I truly look forward to getting there as I know the beek has a wealth of knowledge to pass along to me.

I am going to also bring my camera and try to get some pics.  no promises as I have been promised to work from around 7am to 8-10pm.  The work detail is to last around 10 days.

Yep.  Thats right.  We are going to work 5700 splits in 10 days!!!  dang.  It is hard for me to believe that.

regardless I will let you all know how it turns out soon enough.  See you all in a bit.

You will be exhausted most of the time I would imagine. Looking forward to seeing any pictures and to see a report on your experience. Learn lots.

Well here I am.  I forgot to bring my camera with me so no pictures this year.  Maybe next year.  It's been raining on and off here all day so we are allowed a day of reprieve.  Well not exactly.  We are still on schedule so we busted our humps for the last two days in preparation for the rain day.  Day before yesterday we checked 200 colonies for laying queens.  Rebuilt probably 30 of those colonies and placed queens on about 40 other colonies.  That was the easy work in the morning, in the afternoon we fed around 600 colonies before calling it a day.

It has been pretty nice down here in mid east Texas.  The days been running about mid 80s so I figured with a day break I would get the A/C fixed in my truck.  Imagine that, when I left KC on Saturday I think the high for the day was around 50 degrees.

Too funny.  Anyway This trip has truly been a learning session this far and I am looking forward to the rest of the time down here.  I doubt I will have a chance to get on here and post again before getting back to KC.
