First of all its an inny, or I wouldn't be able to gather the lint, right? If its cold outside light it when its in the button, out the button when its hot out.

Well, it is going to burn off very quickly, leaving you with just burning pellets, so I wouldn't expect it to be a problem.  I have to stoke the smoker for quite a while to get it going, so I'd think any trace of hydrocarbon would be long gone.
