I introduced two new queens to two splits that was unsuccessful in raising a new queen. They both were both introduced for 3 days in queen cages. On the 4th day I released them both. The first one immediately went down into the hive. The other one crawled around on top of the frames and then flew away never to be seen again. I did not check today, what are the chances that she has returned? Why did she fly away. She was pretty and plump, I pulled her from a nuc myself.

>Why did she fly away.

Most likely she knew there was a virgin queen running around in the hive or another laying queen and she sensed the hostility of the workers and fled. That or she was afraid of you. :)
