The Queen Cage

The queen cage had a big hunk of comb started on it, so after we did the direct release of the queen, we brought it in and took some pictures and measurements.



The bees were packaged on Monday and Tuesday, and the package was driven to VA by the supplier.  I picked up the bees on Saturday morning and hived them that afternoon.  Obviously, they got right to business!



This is the back of the queen cage, with lots of wax deposited for the start of more comb.

I used a set of calipers to measure the size of the cell, and got between 4.9ish and 5.1ish, depending on where I checked.
