Last night on the news there was a woman that claimed to have lost all her bees when we had a sudden temp drop.  I know this was mostly bull because the queen and house bees would not have been effected but thats the news for you.  My question is do bees have any natural sense that tells them something is comeing.  Many of mother natures creatures have this.  Deer feed and move the night before a storm. Beaver start stockpileing food long before ice comes.  Last week we had a very nice day going. I was working in my shop with all the doors open when in a matter of 30 seconds the temp dropped about 15-20 degs and the wind kicked up to 25 -30 MPH.  It was short lived only about 30 minutes but at the time I thought about all the foragers that would have been caught

I wonder what kind of drastic drop it was. Even if the outside temp falls really fast, it takes a bit for the inside temp of the hive to go down.

Yes they have some natural sense of the weather and what it is going to do. On a nice day, when you know it is going to rain in the afternoon, go open up a hive. Their temperament is a lot different than on the days there won't be any bad weather.

I use to spend a lot of time outside. Had to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. I could predict the weather better than the weather man... er... person.
