I have 1 deep box that is growing. Last time I checked on it (a week ago), there was 6 foundationless frames filled with comb, 2 1/2 way filled, and 2 empty frames. I am very interested in the horizontal hive, and would really like to use it, instead of vertical hive, so I dont hurt myself! I have tons (about 50?) of old, used medium frames that are in good shape. So that's why I would like to make a medium horizontal hive.
So to transfer the deep to medium, I was thinking, could I just put the deep body right on top of the horizontal hive, on one end? I will use a follower board to limit the space in the HH. The bees would move down, and fill the deep with honey... correct? Or is there an easier way to transfer these bees? I was also thinking about removing one of the empty deep frames and putting a medium frame in, before the transfer, to let the bees fill it up with comb and put it in the HH, to encourage the bees to move down.
Thank you for any help!

You could do that. Or you could make a "shim" that is 3" tall and put the deeps in that (like a box with just the top 3").  Then they will spread from there.
