One of my hives is ready to get a second story, but my frames won't be here til Tues.  Would it help if I swap one of the outer frames that aren't drawn out into the brood?  Just to keep them occupied til I can add the second deep.

Thanks,
Dave

yes.   put it between the brood and nectar.  don't separate the brood

I agree. that's generally a good strategy anyway, to get them to make full use of all 10 frames.

you have plenty of time dont worry if the outer frames are not drawn out yet it is not critical between now and tuesday-the less disturbance the better they like it-RDY-B

Actually if they are pretty crowded I would purposefully split the brood to keep them busy if they can fill that space quickly with festooning bees.
