I have read to use white painted metal over the material on a fume board to keep from overheating the hive. I need education on this. I thought the point was for the heat to carry the stink down. Is this to give them time to move without melting the wax, killing the brood, etc? I have never used one before and am making a couple now to use Fri. or Sat. I have gray aluminum, do I need to paint it. I'm in Fl. Probably be in the high 80's or low 90's.

I paint mine black.  You want the top hot to push the fumes down.
