I recently tried a technique I read about in Bee Culture.  I basically double queened a hive in order to get more bees into a hive body that had an insufficient amount of workers.  After quite a time passed I  moved the weak hive to my parents house to avoid having the workers drift back to their original hive.  They have been up there for about a week so far but I want them back here because I have to fill their feeders and also I get a lot more sunshine here which stimulates their activity.

How long should I wait until I bring them home?

A week should be fine. Many people say 3 days, but I still had some smart bees that remembered where their old home was after that long.

I just got home from moving them back so we shall see how it goes. I will put some leaves in front of the entrance.  I am glad I am not a migratory beekeeper.  Moving hives is always an adventure.
