Hello!  My name is Martin and I am a new beekeeper in the Nashville area.

For over 18 months I've been developing an interest in beekeeping, ever since finding a beekeeping guide in a clearance bin at a local bookstore.

I'll be attending my first beekeeping beginner's course in a few weeks with the Nashville Area Beekeepers Association.  A family friend, who is also a bee supplier, is delivering two starter packages to me in early April.  My 3 kids, my wife and I are all very excited about getting started!

My wife suggested I start up a blog to chronicle my foray into the exciting world of beekeeping, so I've done that.  We have a lot of family and friends who live all over the country, so that will be a nice way for them to see this new hobby take shape.

I look forward to interacting with many of you, and learning from your experiences!

Welcome, both to the forum and to your new addiction.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service

Welcome Martin. Where around Nashville are you from. North, South....?
I live in Colorado, but also have a house on Brick Church Pike in north Nashville.
This forum is a great place to learn. You'll find many different views on any subject.

"Power, especially overgrown power, whets the ambition and sets all the wits to work to enlarge it. Therefore, encroachments on peoples liberties are not generally made all at once, but so gradually as hardly to be perceived by the less watchful; and all plastered over, it may be, with such plausible pretenses, that before they are aware of the snare, they are taken and can not disentangle themselves."

Thanks Bobb, and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

We're actually south of Nashville, in Spring Hill (about 20 minutes outside of the city).  It's gorgeous down here.  I've lived all over the US and TN is one of my favorite places.
