This hive was mean with lots of bees. It will need to be requeened. They just never did wanna calm down.

Fat queen, but nasty bees.

Had to open up another section to the left of the main nest as a chunk of the vertical stud near the bottom was missing.

I hope you didn't get a lot of stings out of it.  How many boxes were you able to fill.

Filled a deep and a medium. Took one sting to the hand early but they were hell bent and I quickly put my gloves on.

Bet you wish you weren't either Scott, perhaps another one but these were mean. It was not a fun removal, I had to wear gloves. I hate wearing gloves!

Beautiful comb formation.  Looks like pretty easy access and clean comb removal.

Just yesterday I found out from my contractor friend the reason I did this removal. Any guesses?

I was told the bees were just wonderful but now I'm hearing the reason they had to go was that they were making the homeowner nervous cause they would follow her and anyone else around, intimidating them, scaring them.

All is said and done but was happy I had my gloves handy after the first sting!

WOW! Great pictures and great cut out. It looked very professional. It amazes me how many calls you get Jp. Still no swarms here yet, especially after 2 feet of snow the oher day.

JP, you just keep on going, and going, and going, when you gonna stop, smiling.  The slideshow aspect was great, kind of a little surprise.  Have that wonderful and great day and health.  Cindi

For some reason this particular posting goes right into the slideshow, not sure why, but glad you liked it.

That's a pretty amazing colony JP. I noticed in a couple of your pics that you put about a 1/3 of a frame of comb into a frame. Is this because it was the only bit of the sheet of comb that had brood?

Why not pack the frame with comb if you have enough to do that?

Or did you separate the honey bearing comb and the brood comb and put them in different places in the box?

Those are amazing pictures JP.  The hive looks huge.
