I did not think about this for some reason, but my township sprays for mosquito's, sometimes once every two week's or so during the peek mosquito season. What effect will this have on my bees? It's a pickup truck driving up and down the road misting some type of bug spray into the air, I do not know what it is. If you are outside, you can smell it. When I hear him coming, we always go in doors and close all the windows to the house.

My bees are about 130 yards from the road.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like insecticide.  Call the township and ask.  Tell them you have bee hives, and ask them what you should do.

I expect they do this at dusk?

Some days you just want to line them all up and start asking questions.

they do the same thing here, the spraying is done just at dark and i dont think it really does anything to the bees, i have seen no evidence of ill efect yet.
hope i never do either!

most often i find my greatest source of stress to be OPS  ( other peoples stupidity )

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

Yes, at dusk. I will call them. I was just reading through a book I have for a second time (Bee Keeping for Dummies) and was on the section about neighbors spraying their lawns and for some reason it just dawned on me about the mosquito spraying, not once did I think of it before (this is my first year bee keeping). Anyway, I will call them tomorrow and ask what it is and if they have a routine schedule. I have not tracked it before, I just hear them coming (can hear them about a mile away) and close up the house.

They use Malathion 50 here. It is a contact spray, doesn't have a long effect.
That is why they spray at that time of day/evening/night, catch-em while they are flying around.
By day light it should not have much if any affect on anything. :)doak
