Last year I let one of my hives get 2 supers with no frames in them. This video is of me cleaning it up.  My 12 year old son is doing the video.

Curious why did you do that?

Draginol

Mostly stupidity.

I left them alone too long and I couldn't bring myself to tear it all down late in the summer.

Did you get that mess all cleaned up?

I would have cut the comb and rubber banded it in some empty frames, before lifting that second super off.

What a mess, bees will build anywhere there is open space and will do it at a rapid pace.

I bought 15 hives that did not have any racks in them and had to change them over to better wood, what a mess and they were all those little black german bees with an attitude. It was a real learning experience. Figured out how to drum bees into the new hive sitting on top of the old hive.

those hot bees will have you steppin and a fetchin like your heads on fire and your keister is a catchin!!!

Bees will be bees and do as they please!

Thanks for sharing.   Although the circumstances are different.   This is excellent proof of why poorly drawn or stray comb should be dealt with ASAP.  I know we get a lot of new beekeepers that are hesitant to cut out bad comb,  especially when just starting a hive,  but this is will surely help them make the decision earlier now that they can see what happens when things are left unaddressed.

Did your son get stung??  My daughter and wife both got stung because they were too close to the hive while I was checking it..... I will bee buying a bee jacket for all of them....... Thats pretty amazing what bees will do when left alone
To bee or not to bee that is the question I wake up to answer that every morning...

All i can say is...wow!  Look at all that comb.

Wow... Dang, that was some work cleaning that up I bet. All that nice comb too! Made me want to jump through the screen with some empty frames. Still a cool site to see.

Like Alex said. That is, some out of control crap.

Its called a tripod, get one.  I almost threw up.  The wad of comb looked cool though.

Mr. Videographer was 12yo.  At that age he'd have just knocked the tripod over anyway .

I think the video man did a good job considering he had a bee in his hair, most young people would have been screaming and running off.

So what did you do with the mess??

I made the statement that he needed to get a tripod.  With a tripod his boy could have helped and got his hands sticky.  But thanks for assuming I missed the third sentence.

I just like to restate the obvious...maybe that's habit from dealing with my own 12 yo...
