New hive building up

Hello,

New to this so pardon the question that you've probably heard before. On one of my two hives I've got a good amount of comb building up on top.

I have a deep with a top feeder on it and one of the frames has about a 4" x 4" piece of comb on the top. If I scrape that off what should I do with it? Leave it in the hive or just take it away? I'll need to remove it before putting on the next deep. Thanks.


(The weather has been so rainy here the past two weeks when I got the nucs installed I haven't been able to really do much.)

Scrape the burr comb as you go. It will become a problem in the future if you don't. You may not need the feeder this time of year.

I just scrape the burr comb off and depending what it has in it, whether they have honey in the burr comb or she has laid eggs in it or there could be larva, if there's eggs or larva i just scrape it and chuck it on the ground next to the hive and it seems like the squirrels like it, if it has honey in it ill put it in a bucket and separate the honey from the wax in winter
