How many people have bought them and what did you think?

BjornBee

Not sure how many people bought them.   :-D

But from my own experience, I think they have good bees, good service, and through many orders over the years, have never missed a delivery date.

Although I highly suggest supporting local beekeeping and breeding, the truth is, many places just can not handle the volume of orders that there are. Many want localized or regional bees. And we just do not have the industry built up to deal with the demand.

So I pass on many orders. And OHB is one the few that I still recommend. I have only ordered the NWC stock.

Thanks BjornBee
Now I know you can answer this If you had a choice between them and honey Run which would you buy from?   NWC is my bee of choice   You can message me if you would rather not say here

BjornBee

My first choice would be Tim from Honey Run. I am not afraid to say this for a couple reasons. Tim, as well as most northern breeders, have a limited capacity. We will only fill a small niche of the overall market when it comes to queens. The majority of queens will come from larger operations for some time to come. Although the demand is great for northern stock, acclimatized bees or queens from local producers, I can suggest Tim all day long, and once he fills his quota, everything goes to the bigger guys on the block. Tim will sell out no doubt without any push from me.

So my advice is to work with local producers and breeders, and support those in your local areas who may be breeding for the same traits as you.

When those breeders are full, I'm more than happy to pass along business to some of the other breeders that I have come to know.

Of course, I say all this with a bias. That bias includes not just knowing Tim personally, but also since he is a member of the NSQBA (Northern States Queen Breeders Association).

I"ll add a little here. I bought queens from Tim, Not a single issue, and the bees are and did fine. If I need more I surely will purchase from him again.

I have emailed and called and left messages but have not heard back from him.  I am looking for 75 queens and am starting to think maybe this is to large a order for Tim

If I was going to sit back and watch a game, I may have a six pack of my favorite micro-brew. It may be harder to find, it may cost more, and I may not get much of it at a time.

If I was having a summer picnic and needed 10 kegs, I would probably order something more mainstream, readily available, but fits the job nicely.

:cheer:

Tim....micro-brewery.
OHB...Budweiser.  (Ok, maybe better than that. Molsen!...... :-D )

I have not had more than 3 drinks this year. So I have no clue what is good beer or not. But I hope you understand the analogy..... :-D  Both are good depending on what your looking for.

Hey Danno, just so happens I got a carni queen from OHB as well. and they were great to deal with as well. it was really early season and I called them and asked. they sent one out the next day. It also did just fine. so the only differense I see is that OHB has warm weather bees. IDK but they did me a great service, they were just starting to pick queens. and went out of there way to snag me one single queen.

The guy I buy my bee packages and queens from gets them from Olivarez and they have all been very good honey producers and the queens have been very prolific and I mark my queens and can confirm that none of them have been superceeded the first year ever or the the second year either. I have been very satisfied with them.
