I was given a couple of deeps with drawn comb but I am planning on using all mediums.  (A package or two will be on foundationless-an experiment on my part) The comb is hard to the touch but I was wandering if it would withstand a bandsaw to cut the deep frames down to a medium size and then just add another bottom bar. Anyone ever done done this with any success?

You could save a lot of work cleaning up the mess left in the band saw. :-D
I would fill lower Medium Box minus number of deep comb frames, with Top-bars.
Put 2nd. Medium Box on top place in the deep comb frames, let hang into lower box.
add the package bees, add rest of Top-bars. Done.

PS: I would get rid of that old comb as soon as possible.

I have cut some deep frames with drawn comb on a table saw.  They worked fine without a bottom bar.

Why not use a sharp knife to cut the comb, and a bandsaw to cut the ends of the frame?

I wouldn't want wax all over my bandsaw, just me though.

I cut them on a table saw then cut the tips off of the bottom bar and make them into butt joints.  Like this:

Another interesting and eye opening idea from Mr. Bush!

I wanted to switch from deeps and mediums to all mediums, but I figured I just had to phase them out. Never thought about cutting all the boxes and frames.
