Some behavior seems a little odd to me

This is my second year with hive.  The passed few days I've been going out and sitting near the hive just watching the activity.  There has been a flurry of comings and goings.  Except for at one corner of the entrance same spot each day a few bees congregate and stand basically motionless.  Some times one wiggles it butt a little bit or one stomps its foot a few times, but basically they all just stand there pretty still, just outside of the entrance facing toward the interior.  I can't be perfectly sure but I am pretty sure they are all flapping their wings though not moving. Their numbers vary from 3 to 8 as eventually some do come and go.
Thanks

Sounds like waggle dances and bees taking a rest, some fanning.

Sounds more like Carrier or Trane. The air conditioning crew. They are fanning the air in, while others inside are moving it around and sending it back out. You should see more as the weather gets hotter.
