Well it looks like we are moving to Dallas and the house we will be renting wont let me keep my bees there.  I will only have 1 hive to take down with me.  My question is... should I sell my colony I have up here in Denver or should I move them down to my grandpas farm.  It will be a 3 hr trip to go and check up on them no one will want to upkeep them it will be my duty.  If I do sell them I dont know how much to sell them for? Or could I split them up into nucs and have 5 new nucs down there in Texas?  Is it too late in the season to do this down there?  I'm all confused....... :?
To bee or not to bee that is the question I wake up to answer that every morning...

personally my advise would be to sell the one hive you have. a good stong hive with 2 deeps this time of year should bring you at least 200 dollars once you get settled in at dallas start looking for a place you could put a hive that is closer than a 3 hour drive then buy a nuc and start over. that would be a lot easier than moving a hive from Denver to Dallas
never take the top off a hive on a day that you wouldn't want the roof taken off your house

If you sell them in CO, you would not have to deal with paperwork etc for moving them across state and county borders.

I'd probably sell my bees and began again in Dallas.  There are several beeks in that area.  Dallas has a long season and mild winters so if you did want to do the split thing, there would be plenty of time for them to build up.  Welcome to Texas.
