Hello,

I have this property next to me that I assume is now bank owned. It is a 2 story house. There are TONS of bees flying around up by the attic vent holes. You can see large masses of them on the stucco just below the vents. I have tried to contact local code enforcement to have the property owners take care of the problem but they say the people who used to live there are still listed as owners but no new address and I am 99.9% sure they lost the house.

Soooo what can I do about this? Any ideas? I was stung in the neck yesterday by one. He chased me about 50-70 feet before catching me and stinging me!

I have attached a picture. (Well I would but I dont have enough posts to do so yet)

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Yeah I am not sure what kind of bees they are. Just know there are lots of them and since it is a vacant I am not sure if anything can be done. Any ideas?

I will see if I can find a mod to send the picture too. thanks

Vacant abandoned house?   Use a match to get rid of the bees.  Oh wait, did I say that out loud?

1st, if they are honeybees, they will do you no harm.  2nd, i know of no reputable beekeeper who will do that job without clearance from some authority.  what is your concern about the bees?

amended:  unless you are in an AHB area. in that case, you might have some concern...  how far is this house from yours?

Thymebomb welcome to the forum. Where bouts you located in so Cal? If you are a beekeep you should know that a He bee never can sting you, only the she bees, lol.

Seriously, shouldn't the bank now be responsible for the bee issue? Thank the man upstairs you only got one sting. A large hive like that will have larger security force & much stores & brood to protect. Might be part AHB but domestic ferals also touchy as well. The dearth will be coming w/ hotter temps & drier days in some parts of so-Cal so bees will want what ever they can get their tongues into. Have you thought of putting a 6ft or higher fence around where bees are to force em up outta your path? You might of inadvertently been walking through their beeline. Hope it works out for you & bees soon & awaiting the pics.
