ok, so i know this topic has come up over and over again and I even searched the archives for information, but I have hit a dead end.  I have been trying to get a basic general liability insurance coverage so I can do a couple of bee removals where people have asked for the.....problem is I CANT FIND ONE!!  I am either told that i cant be covered or the two I did get a quote for was over $1000/yr.  I tell them that i am doing basic removals of "old" nets from within walls, no higher than step ladder height and power tools limited to a sawzall.

Is there ANYONE here that can point me in the direction of someone I can talk to about a policy...especially in Pennsylvania?!!  Any and all help would be apppreciated!!

Good luck, I have been looking for 3 years.   I asked the State Farm agent that insures my beekeeping activities and he laughed!

How about contractor liability insurance? If there's such thing.

Anyways, your homeowner's insurance should cover your HOBBY.
You can always take suggested donations for the bee removal.  ;)

I think you would have a hard time getting an angry lawyer  and insurance agent to see things that way

My general liability for my general contractor's license covers me for removals...of course it's $5,800/yr  :-x

The insurance cost is what killed my junk removal business they wanted almost $10,000 a year for one employee because it involved heavy lifting. Good luck finding cheap insurance. If you do let me know :)

I think my Gen. liab., workers comp, and commercial auto for my electrical contracting company ran 14,000 last year.  And this year I am down to me and one other man.

What risk are you worried about....damaging the persons house?  You could cover that to some extent with a Liability Release & Indemnity Agreement.

Insurance? We don't need no stinking insurance!! Tell the homeowner that if he doesn't come after you for house damages, you won't go after hime for injuries!!! :-D

AllenF

I don't think I would worry about the homeowner.   It would be a 3rd party that mucks it up.

Very few people try to be intimidating when you're the one holding a box of bees anyway :-D

thanks for all the responses everyone!  I have a general liability waiver that i have people sign, but i had a request from a local city/municipality to remove bees from an old house they own and they wanted proof of insurance.  So, I either turn it down or do it for free.  Its not a terribly hard job, but it'll take a few hours.  o'well....i'm glad its not just me!!!
thanks again all!

My worry is either you are working with the bees, or people just hear you have bees, and some ladies little kid gets stung................... You know how thinks can go.
