Dear Friends,

I recently moved down to Tampa, FL from Pittsburgh, PA.  I purchased two nucs this spring and pulled off a full capped frame this weekend.  The honey was alot "brighter" and very yellow compared to the spring/summer flow.  We do have brazilian pepper trees in our neighborhood (unfortunately) and the honey had a bit of an aftertaste.

Does this make sense to the Florida people? Is brazilian pepper nectar bright yellow with an aftertaste?

Thanks!

Yes! You got it! We leave it on our hives for winter food and extract in Jan-Feb just before the citrus flow. Usually only good for bakery honey although some folks like it.

Yepp, you guessed it...yellow honey with a bitter(ish) aftertaste. We just pulled a barrel and a half for those who actually like it. The next time we pull (late Oct. it looks like) it will all be sold as baking grade.

It will crystallize if you look at it funny so don't let it stand around for long!

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
