Oh, Annette, I'm so sorry!  Our weather forecaster laughed when he said we were sending our garbage down to CA.  I thought of you and the other beeks down there and got mad at him.  This is such a hard time of year for the girls, you'd think a little weather cooperation would be nice.  No one should have that much rain.

I hope after the week, it all blows off shore!

WOW! Sorry your weather really bites Annette!  We've been having beautiful weather lately. Here is our forecast:

We really do need rain to wash all of this pollen away.!!

Looks like California package bees are going to stink again this year. Insufficiently mated queens that pitter out mid season.

I feel for you Annette! Remember though...this too shall pass.

We have the opposite problem here so feel free to send us some of that rain! We've been hoping for a nice (25-30 barrel) orange blossom harvest this year but it looks like we'll be lucky to get 100lbs :'(

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Oh ~ Sorry you're feeling blue (& wet) Annette!  It's cool in Alaska (40's) & very sunny every day but I'm headed to Arizona for some warm weather before my bees arrive in April! Maybe you need a holiday too in warmer climates?  :)

Love your picture with the red umbrella & now I know why that's your avatar!  FG :)

Hi Annette,

Down south in the golden state & we got your rains, winds, snow & a mini tornado by coast full force on Sunday. Guys & gals at NOAA predicted a La Nina this year, which usually is a dry spell down here. Boy were they waaaay off!

Heard about swarm in 10ft holly bush on Sunday but lady didn't get back to me until Monday. I had time near sunset & the poor med. football swarm was slowed by cold & intermittent showers. Didn't see queen but put some chunk comb honey in frame for them to feast on. Today was sunny 60's & that now hive was orienting & reveling in the dry sunshine. Shook the ones from sheet I laid below tree & they came outta their torpor in the rays of sun to join their sisters :).

Getting more liquid sunshine this Wednesday early evening & more of the same Thursday & Friday. On the positive side all the rains spurring much growth of flora bee forage & hopefully equal or greater amount of bees & honey :).

Cheers, David

this storm blew over an oak on someones property that has a hive in the trunk. I'm scheduled to come out and remove it on Friday if these rains let up enough for me to do it. On a good note the wild flowers are exploding around here

Aw c'mon, its snowing here now with up to a foot predicted for today and we're gonna have temps in the 'single digits' for the next couple nights. Do you still wanna cry?  In March any day above freezing is OK with me ;)

HI everyone and thanks for all the responses.

Actually, I am a bit worried about the bees (last checked on there stores in February) but they seem to be alive and doing good. (from what I can see on the few warmer days we have had)

I know I have to keep it all in perspective with how bad the winter was overall for everyone. Just that I have been watching all the swarm catching videos and started wondering what the heck is going on here.

Soon enough I will be playing with my little girls and getting some swarm calls.

Take care everyone

Sincerely
Annette

Hope that West coast rain dries up for you. well at least lessens, too dry is bad too. Those West Coast storms have been flying right across to the East Coast!

Later Spring is just around the corner and the flowers will be bloomin'.
