The 2 bars you can see in the upper left corner are likely what he's talking about, or at least similar.



As for the barb idea, I don't think it will work. In fact, I suspect that it will actually make the attachment weaker.

it was a thought. I'm too new a newbie on how the comb is actually attached and the bees been doing it for millions of years so I'll just leave it up to them!

I don't have a problem with the bees attaching to the sides, although you will hear that concern.

doug, I'm wondering about your experience with this square TBH.  How durable do you find the comb when under manipulation?  can you handle them just the same as the trapezoidal shaped ones?
