when doing the alcohol kill & bee vs mite ratio it's my understanding that it's best to use nursery workers. how accurate of a count do you suppose you would get by using the bees that are bearding at the entrance to the hive?

danno

Mites are in the brood chamber so you wouldn't get a accurate from bearding bee's plus these bee's will fly when trying to measure out a scoop

do you have screen bottom board? if you do try this

1: place sticky board under screen bottom board (just a piece of white poster board paper with petroleum jelly or veg oil smeared on it

2: take hive top off and inner cover

3: if you have two brood chamber place window screen on top the take 1 cup of powder sugar pour it on to the screen

4: take bee brush and evenly spread it a cross the top

5: now do the same on the bottom

6: set hives back up

7: leave the sticky board there for 3 days

8: take sticky board of look to see how many you got on it

9: in the fall the max number of mites in 2 mediums is 30 and 40 in 2 deeps if you have more than that

10: TAKE ACTION!

hope there's 0 on that board good luck HAPPY BEEKEEPING :bee:
