Some of my relatives want to paint pictures on bee hives for a project. What type of paint are you artists using for your work ? Acrylic, or some type of enamel ? They said that they need small amounts with some basic colors to use. Would be nice if I can find them a outdoor paint kit somewhere .

I used Rustoleum Painter's Touch, but only because I had leftovers in my garage fom a bird feeder I built in '04.  The bottom board on the feeder is separating because it is Indoor plywood (the scrap I used didn't show any markings so I couldn't tell), but the paint is still nice and shinny after every day in the Florida sun.  Home Depot carries it in small cans.  Dries fast.

Have fun!

Your pictures look great sundog, I will try to pick up a few cans to try out. Thanks

update, found small jars at the Hobby Lobby store, brand name yard and garden. They have about 40 different colors and are $1.17 each.

Listen to others but make your own decisions. That way you own the results.

Those pics give me the feeling I am not tending to the artistic needs of my bees in a meaningful way  ;)

My bees are just happy to be in the dry.  But that hive does look nice.

"Too much time on my hands".  My wife had the stencils, I had the paint, and since the hive lives in "her" backyard, I thought it might be cute. 8-)

Having fun!
