I am new to this forum.  Have been thinking about bees for several years.  I am hoping to get a hive either next year or year after.

I saw this site recommended on another forum about chickens, so here I am.  I know nothing, well next to nothing about bees.  I have perused a few beekeeping books, and definately want to be informed before I start, so will be snooping around the site to gather some information.

Thanks for having me!

Bees go great with chickens.    Welcome to the forum.

Welcome.  A general purpose bee keeping book is a good place to start.  You can also download most of the old bee books from the bee keeping pioneers for free from google books.  Those books are circa 1910, but still very insightful.

Hello and Welcome!

I'm sure you'll find this forum to be an informative site to learn more about bees and beekeeping. Be sure to check out the tutorials on the main Beemaster page. Also, update your profile to include your location. Beekeeping is very location-specific, so it will help us answer your questions if your location is visible. Also, this forum has a 'search' function that I find useful: very often I can find immediate answers to my questions in previous threads.

Check the link below and see if there are any beekeeping clubs near you. Clubs often offer beginning beekeeping classes, and are great places to find mentors and get connected to nearby beekeepers:
