Robbing honey in high winds

advisable or not, had my heart set on doing ot today and we have some high winds gusting to 35 or 40.....

didnt work to bad actually, except I gave the wind a chance to die down , which they didnt and ran out of day light..... hah but if I cant see the bees then they cant see me right.....

Did you use a fume board or just brush the bees off the frames?

My fear would be the bees would have a hard time flying back to their hives in the kind of wind we had over the weekend.

I did both fume board and brush...... no sun so the fume board of course didnt work so well.... so I have a propane torch that I use to light the smoker....and I just heated the board with it.....that worked but with the wind it blew the smell right out of the hive after removing the board.... then I used the bee brush also......

yeah i saw this and also one guy used a computer fan with 9 volt battery... i thought that was real cleaver

I wonder what ever came of that device that was for gathering package bees
it could have easly been adapted for honey harvest-Alan Buckley was doing the start up-
is that the one you saw-RDY-B

How about a hair drier to get better vaporization of the chemicals AND distribute them thru the supers :-D

I don't recall reading a post about how Finski gets the bees out of his supers in cold Finland. That might be interesting to hear? Finski what is your process?
