Another external colony on a tree branch folks! This one was fun. Would have been even more fun if closer to the ground but still I'll take an external removal any day over one inside of some structure.

JP, watching you cut the comb it looks like your cutting it at an angle in regards to the way it "looks" like it is hanging.  Is that due to camera angle or ????  It just looked odd to me.

I'm just curious, when you do a cutout like this how many stings do you normally get?  I mean, when you shook that honey comb off that you were letting the bees rob...there was a cloud of bees right in your face!!!  No stings???

Nice job, btw!!!

American blood spilled to protect the freedom and peace of people all over the world.  320,000 USA casualties in WWI, 1,076,000 USA casualties in WWII, 128,000 USA casualties in the Korean War, 211,000 casualties in the Vietnam "conflict", 57,000 USA casualties in "War on Terror".  Benghazi, Libya, 13 USA casualties. These figures don't include 70,000 MIA.  But, the leaders of one political party of the United States of America continue to make the statement..."What difference does it make?".

Thanks for my morning cutout/swarm vid fix.  Goes with coffee like a doughnut.

Ed, I noticed that as well, it was just the camera angle. Jack, coffee, bees & donuts go very well together, don't you think?  :-D Reminds me of the donut shop that had bees flying in the back door & drive through window, but that's another story...

JP,
Do you ever find hives like this one that survived the winter or do the open hives end up being killed when the weather goes below freezing?
Another great video. Seems like you are getting one per day.

Jim, believe it or not they actually survive winter down here. I did one two years ago that I looked at the prior January, I believe it was. I went back following spring and removed them. It was a decent sized hive rather close to the ground that actually grew in size between when I saw it first & when I removed it. We had record cold days that winter & the hive still survived! That amazed me! I did one underneath a porch that was completely exposed other than it was right inside the porch opening. They had been there three years. Of course we do have rather mild winters compared to most places.

Ya'll have a lot of external hives down there,   Great video.

JP

Allen, either they're becoming more common or I'm just getting more calls for them now. Who knows for certain. I will say this though. This year I shook more swarms than I can ever recall that had started building right on the spot. Ones that had been there at least five days.

Another good 1 Bro! Our flow is still on although slow so robbing is only an issue in a couple of yards. I imagine we're still a week or two away from robbing season.

BTW, got my internet back up and running this morning...I can resume my Beemaster's addiction!

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
